With Lil’s first birthday approaching and my maternity leave coming to an end, it seems this past year has gone by in a flash…The holiday season was SO hectic and we were both longing for a night out. I was itching to play dress up and Ken was craving a flat-iron steak grilled to a perfect medium-well (sigh). Thankfully, Lil’s grandparents were eagerly waiting to babysit. It was also a good practice run for when I have to return to work and leave her with the sitter (separation anxiety be goneee).
Date night was a great idea!! Getting dressed up for no other reason than him – it was just like old times. A flirty bow and suede stilettos was a great pick for a night of dinner and dancing..!
It was a chilly evening so I slipped on a boxy sweater from Kenneth Cole that I purchased a few weeks ago. I paired it with a ruffled skirt which added both movement and a dash of femininity. I liked the look, but I needed something to break apart the different textures. The satin belt did the trick!!! It balanced the top and bottom half of my outfit aaand gave me the feeling of LOOOVE I was after. Playing around with different textures and styles (when done correctly) is so fun!!
I experimented with different textures on my hair as well, by adding some soft curls and a messy fishtail braid to frame my face. I also topped my crown with a second, more traditional braid, which added both volume and variety. I’m usually not one for a nude lip, but this outfit had enough going on! I carried the white and blue tones from my sweater into my eyes by adding subtle highlights and shadows using the Burberry Complete Eye Palette.
Overall, I was so happy with the look, and so was Ken!! I say it’s for him, but honestly, when I look good, I feeeel good, and I can be my best self for him.
We tried the “let’s not talk about baby” thing at dinner, but it’s virtually impossible to avoid talking about the most wonderful change in our lives. As great as it was to tap into our old selves again, coming home to a series of cuddle sessions and playful antics fills me up in ways I can’t explain!
Until next time!
